Pennsylvania’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate program benefits lower income residents who are age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The income eligibility limit (which excludes half of Social Security income) is $35,000 for homeowners and $15,000 for renters.

The maximum rebate for both homeowners and renters is $650.

The deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2013 is June 30, 2014.

You may request an application form by mail, download a form or obtain a paper form from the PA Department of Revenue district office or legislator’s office nearest you until June 30, 2014.

The property tax/rent rebate program began in 1971 and was significantly expanded with the passage of Act 1 of 2006. The program is supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery and slots revenue.
